“To-morrow I will begin,” thought Katy, as she dropped asleep that night. How often we all do so! And what a pity it is that when morning comes and tomorrow is to-day, we so frequently wake up feeling quite differently; careless or impatient, and not a bit inclined to do the fine things we planned overnight.
Susan Coolidge – ‘What Katy Did’ ( Carr Family, #1 )
‘Tomorrow I will begin’ – Ever so often, these words echo in my head as I close my eyes, ready to drift away after reflecting on my day – especially on what I did not manage to do. There are everyday important things that I do and that are crucial in running my house and caring for my family, but there are those ‘other’ things that seem a bit daunting, too time-consuming, not too important or even sometimes a bit more interesting or fun. These are the things that do not get priority. They get pushed way back, squashed at the bottom of the to-do list, only to resurface and nag you when your mind is doing its solitary reflection! The day seems full of unnecessary distractions and that time spent could have been more productive. I vow to do at least one thing from this neglected list tomorrow – give myself a mental applause on my decision-making skills and go peacefully to sleep. But come morning, what with the usual rushing and same struggles of everyday chores, every promise is forgotten and the list remains untouched.
Expressing myself through a blog has been one of those things. There has been fear of taking the first step, fear of taking up a project and committing to it, and most importantly – fear of not finding enough time to do what I love. But I’ve finally realized how this fear is just an imaginary circle around me. By jumping over it, I’ve looked back to see it vanished and the only thing affected is how my mind and soul are enjoying the new adventure!
Of course, this would not have been possible without the support of my husband, family & friends. Its crucial to surround yourself with people who support you, uplift you, recognize the potential that you cannot see within yourself, and encourage you to pursue your dreams. Relentless support and encouragement empowered me to take this leap, ditch my procrastination and finally write my first blog post – inspired by the above excerpt from my favorite classic “What Katy Did”. Now that you are here on this journey with me, expect a fun read as I share my musings, motherhood experiences, recipes, beauty , reviews and of course parties!
